McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has downplayed his team’s recent form after they clinched their fifth win in six races, brushing off the achievement as “mostly a series of happy accidents.”

Speaking to reporters after Oscar Piastri’s back-to-back-to-back victories in Bahrain, Jeddah, and Miami, Brown was quick to deflect any suggestion that McLaren might currently be the most competitive team on the grid.

Let’s not overthink this. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time four races in a row. In different countries. With different strategies. It’s just... you know, one of those things.

Sources within the paddock say McLaren staff have been warned internally not to acknowledge the team’s performance as “dominant” or “intentional,” with one engineer reportedly reassigned to catering duty after describing their car’s pace as “actually kind of elite.”

Despite McLaren’s recent success, Brown has repeatedly stressed that “other teams are still very strong,” especially Red Bull — who heroically crossed the finish line a full 30 seconds behind McLaren’s papaya-colored rocketships.

At press time, Zak Brown was seen telling team mechanics, “Okay guys, no more wins, we’re gonna look suspicious. Let’s aim for a safe P3 next week, yeah?”
