FIA baffled as mandatory 2-stop rule fails to make Monaco exciting

MONACO – In a desperate attempt to inject excitement into the Monaco Grand Prix, the FIA mandated a minimum of two pit stops for the 2025 edition of the famously uneventful street race. The result? Drivers stopped twice. And… absolutely nothing else happened.
The top four positions remained unchanged from lights to flag, with fans around the world left wondering if one pit stop was even necessary.
The race’s only notable moment occurred when David Croft briefly raised his voice after Lando Norris locked up entering Turn 1. Crofty got excited thinking the lock-up might cascade into an incident, or strategy shake-up, or… anything. But instead, equilibrium was restored, and so was the nap.
Kick Sauber’s strategists, always up for mind games, decided to have Bortoleto do three pit stops “just to see if anyone noticed.” No one did.
The FIA has already promised to “evaluate alternative options” for next year. Until then, Monaco remains a place where glamour reigns, billionaires sunbathe trackside, and the racing politely stays out of the way.
