Verstappen’s dominance could bore fans as he extends lead in the Penalty Points Championship

Max Verstappen is back on top, and fans could already be bored. After a controversial collision with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix, Verstappen has added three more points to his already impressive tally in the Penalty Points Championship, bringing his total to 11 — just one shy of an automatic race ban.
Verstappen’s pace in accumulating penalty points has been nothing short of historic. While other drivers are still fumbling with minor infractions, Verstappen has taken a more direct approach: intentional collisions and a bold take on what qualifies as a racing incident.
Liam Lawson, currently second in the standings with six points, has voiced frustration over Verstappen’s seemingly effortless dominance.
“It’s disheartening,” Lawson said. “I worked hard for those six points. Max shows up, T-bones someone, and walks away with three like it’s nothing.”
Despite the growing outcry, Verstappen remains focused on the final step of his quest.
“11 points is good,” he said. “But 12? That’s legendary. You only get so many chances to make history in your prime.”
As the grid heads to Canada, all eyes will be on the Dutchman — to see whether he can go one better, or whether the FIA will finally step in to stop a championship they never meant to create.
